We are currently finalizing the PCB design stage and want to start thinking about how we can actually package the product. The product itself is an electronic golf ball marker. The components that should be visible on the top of the marker are an LCD screen, two LEDs (on on each side of the LCD screen), a low-battery LED, and a button that allows the user to measure the slope of the green and have it displayed on the LCD. The attached picture ('0 Basic idea') show each of these components, as well as our logo. Note that the button will not be visible- it will likely sit under a stylish cover of sorts (so the button cover is an opportunity to be creative). Our product is small, the PCB board will have a diameter of approximately 40mm. The packaging shouldn't add much bulk to the size. We hope this contest will provide some unique design ideas. We want a stylish, some-what classy, packaging. As such, we expect that the bright green color show in our logo will not actually be part of the packaging. Perhaps instead, the logo could be raised/lowered as shown in the '4 G Shock GA2100' picture. If colors are used, they likely should be relatively neutral- the product needs to fit in an outdoor setting. Another characteristic we are looking for is also illustrated by the G Shock watch. As shown in '2 Side view', the LEDs and the button sit on top of the PCB board (there are many more components on the bottom which isn't shown). The LCD screen (which isn't shown in '2 Side view', and likely a microchip will also sit on top of the PCB. The LCD screen has the greatest height of these components, and will protrude ~3mm from the top of the PCB. Therefore, the top plate of the packaging will need to be contoured to fit these components. The G Shock watch illustrates this idea nicely with how the packaging incorporates the LCD screen. We have provided some approximate dimensions, but are not overly concerned with having everything perfectly to scale at this point. We want to focus on the creative side of things. That said, the size of the LCD is indeed a constraint. As such, the '3 LCD screen' picture is the dimensions provided from the manufacturer. Feel free to ask for more details. Also, please note that we are in the first-stages of designing the packaging. We really don't have much of a direction yet, so please don't let our above description prevent you from sharing something you think is interesting or creative. We welcome all ideas!
