I started off by thinking exactly what type of place the store looked like. There'll be lots of simulation games, bowling, pool table, game cards, and so on. Then I imagined what kind of mood the place would have - it's probably darker than a normal store. So to match the ambiance, a deep moody, yet fun/entertaining type logo would be needed. I imagined a back-lit silhouette of shapes would fit the bill exactly, similar to those of private and exclusive clubs. The design of the logo itself was more in line with the expectations of the client - modern, youthful, geometric, abstract, and playful. So an angular graffiti-like depiction of the name could work. The final step was to try and make it balanced (in a way). The result is as shown.

Please read full brief. Moama Bowling Club is a lawn bowls club looking to modernise its sports logo and playing uniform. Having had no team name/mascot in the past we are looking to possible incorporate this. Having been very traditional in the past we are looking to hold this traditional aspect whilst creating a contemporary and modern logo to attract a new demographic of participant to our teams.

Punny logotype for upscale bowling/Restaurant

这is a fun concept and when I saw the idea for an upscale bowling locale with fine dining I set about imagining what a posh lane might look like. In my doodles I kept coming back to the visual pun of a strike-through over the word strike, which has the minimal aesthetic of a luxurious restaurant. This plays on both the word 'Strike' and the way a strike is often scored in bowling (with an 'X'). The typeface is called 'Norwester', a beefy san serif that is very modern. Out of the hundreds of types I looked at for this project I felt this had the most character. There were some slight modifications done to accommodate the concept, and the design accommodates any color palette.
